Weekly opponent scouting · starting with high school football

Your next opponent, charted play by play.

turns your opponent's Hudl film into a weekly scouting packet and a player quiz. Right now that's high school football: scout their offense, their defense, or both, and add a team portal, a JV breakdown or a self-scout.

Built by Austen, an offensive line coach at Scottsdale Christian, three-time defending Arizona state champions. He scouts opponents for his own staff every week of the season.

Our players know what the other team is going to run from the down and distance alone. I call out their plays before the snap so often that the referees look at me like, how does he know that?

That comes from the same weekly scouting that goes into every packet.

How a week works

Film in. Packet and quiz out.

  1. 01

    You share the film.

Give Coach Austen access to your team's Hudl. He pulls 3 of your next opponent's games from there, or up to 10 for a deeper look. Your film stays private.

  2. 02

    Every snap gets charted.

Down and distance, formation, motion, play and result, one snap at a time. If the film doesn't show it, it gets marked unknown instead of guessed.

  3. 03

    The packet lands.

Formations and situations, run and pass by look, a full play chart, and drawn-up diagrams of the plays you will actually see on game day. Plus a one-page key sheet for game night with their tendencies by down and distance.

  4. 04

    Players take the quiz.

A short quiz built from the packet, so your players walk into practice already knowing the looks.

Player quiz

Find out who studied before game day.

Every packet comes with a short quiz your players can take on their phones. Formations to name, tendencies to call, and the plays most likely to hurt you. Try this one on the sample opponent.

  • Built from that week's packet, not a generic test.
  • Each answer explains the tendency behind it.
  • Works on any phone. No app to install.

Add-on · Team portal

Your own portal, in your colors.

A team site like the one Coach Austen built for his own players. They log in on their phones, drill the formations, study the opponent's plays and take the quiz, all in one place with your name on it.

    Questions coaches ask

    The short answers.

What do you need from us each week?

Access to your team's Hudl. Coach Austen pulls 3 of your next opponent's games from there, or up to 10 for a deeper look, and builds the packet from it.

    Does our film stay private?

Yes. Your Hudl access is used only to build your scouting packets. Your film and your packets are never shared with another school.

    Who builds the packets?

Austen, an offensive line coach at Scottsdale Christian, three-time defending Arizona state champions. He charts opponents for his own staff every week, and your packet is built the same way.

Can we get only offense or only defense?

Yes. You can scout your opponent's offense, their defense, or both. The player quiz and the game-night key sheet come with every package.

Can you break down our own offense?

Yes. Self-scout is an add-on. Your own film gets charted the same way as an opponent's, so you can see the tendencies other teams are seeing in you.

    Do you scout JV opponents?

Yes. JV gets its own film breakdown package, built from JV game film. Some weeks your JV plays the same school as varsity and some weeks a different one. Either way, JV gets a separate packet and quiz.

    How much does it cost?

Pricing is set per program, based on the package you pick. Reach out and Coach Austen will put a quote together.
